winter break...

Well, I'm not going to Jordan until spring break, and I finally got the greenlight from the customs house to send out any kind of post. So, holiday cards will be late, but they will be coming. My holiday letter 2007 is my previous post. Sorry, you're not getting a copy of it in your holiday cards, I really don't feel like wasting the trees.

So I think the traffic dept. should issue stickers or badges of honor for those who get hit or cut off by EVERYONE in the GCC. I've been cut off by a Saudi, Emerati, Kuwaiti, and a Quatari, all in ONE DRIVE to the mall and back. Funny thing is, I'm not the only one. And just about everyone in each of those countries goes through far less driving instruction than in Bahrain or in several of the countries the ex-pats are from.

Holiday Newsletter 2007

To my friends and family,

This year has been one huge adventure. I am still living with a school year calender. January to June I was finishing up my first year of teaching in Bahrain. Late June to late August I was traveling all over the US visiting friends and family. Late August to December I started my second year of teaching in Bahrain.

Other things I did over the course of the past year:

I finished my teaching certification, started my master's degree, traveled to Rome (during holy week!) and sold jewelry to Bahraini royalty.

Who knows what next year will bring...

Love,
Kate

More from the birthday...

These were the roses that were delivered to me at lunch on the 29th. Thanks Bill!
Welcome to the surprise party!
My cake. Yep, it's chocolate and tasted like heaven...

More driving pics...and a birthday in the mix...

More driving pics and Here's my birthday for you: My students bought me a day pass at a spa complete with reservations and the works. I had a great time, I never want to do it again. However, the fun began on November 29th--Thursday and the last day of the school/work week. I had two classes sing to me and the son of one of my co-workers had conspired with his mother to have roses delivered to me at lunch. THEN, a bunch of the teachers threw me a surprise party--as in, I really had no clue they were going to throw me a party until I was there.
All in all, things were good. School is still going well, we're almost done with the second quarter and we're coming up on winter break.
