three down, one to go...

Well, the year is officially three quarters over. I have turned in and entered my grades for the third quarter with little stress...which means something is wrong, I just haven't figured out what that something is quite yet. I'll figure it out when I'm on the plane to Rome in three days time! Yes, I'm very excited about going to Rome.

Speaking of travel. I am traveling back to the states this summer. I have my arrangements made and I have slowly but surely been making arrangements for my summer travel in the states. So far so good in figuring out who I need to see. The challenge has become how I'm going to get to places. But I've never traveled by Greyhound or Amtrak before so it would be an adventure that I'm more than happy to go on. :)

a little update

I'm getting through the last week and a half until I go off to Rome.

Today is the solar equinox. This means a few things. First off because last night was the new moon it's the first day of the new month in the lunar calander. Then it also means that Easter is the first Sunday AFTER the full moon in two weeks. It also means that I'm going to be in Rome for Holy Week...right, this will be interesting.

Tomorrow is Bahraini Mother's day and today is my parents wedding anniversary. My parents have been married for 25 years.

The daily grind is going well enough though.

it's been too long...

Ok, another update.

Yesterday was my mom's birthday--Happy Birthday Mom!

I'm counting down the two and a half weeks until I go to Rome. Yep, I'm excited. I am really looking forward to a break from school. I'm also looking forward to seeing some of the places that I have been studying for years. :)

Life in Bahrain has been good. The weather is warming up now. We're in the 80's regularly and I'm enjoying it. :)

simple realizations...

there's a prayer room in the mall...and I don't think twice about it.

I hear the prayer calls in my classroom and I smile as I know the noon prayer call means I've got 5 minutes left of class.

There's a mosque down the road and around 6pm it's impossible to drive around it--there are far too many cars parked on the sides of the roads.

5 times a day it's impossible to get anything done smoothly--then there's siesta in the middle of the afternoon, which means everyone takes a nap from 1-4pm. Yep, things run at snail speed in a country with more breaks that work time.
