200th post!!!

Yep, this is the 200th post since I started this blog in June of 2006.

For those who have been keeping up with family news: my mom and dad made it safely to Bahrain early this morning (right around midnight) and are about as jet lagged as I was expecting them to be. I'm hoping they get something resembling sleep tonight. They will be here for about a week so there will be similar adventures to that of Sarah's time out here--except no Ashura stuff going on.

winter holiday...

well, I survived my first half of the school year without major incident. Once school was out, I had a couple of days to unwind and destress before I left for San Francisco.

San Francisco was awesome! I spent a lot of time with Nick, roaming the city, seeing things I missed over the summer, and getting more or less acquainted with the city. Nick took me to the symphony one night--I enjoyed it a lot. I also ran a few errands for a couple of the teachers who didn't get to leave Bahrain (bringing back things they wanted/needed from the States that we can't get in Bahrain). Overall, I had a great time.

My classroom for next year is huge and the kids seem to be pretty interesting. At least I won't have to worry about a few of the wonderful hang-ups I get out in Bahrain.

But now I'm back in Bahrain, I was jet lagged my first day or so back--mostly because I didn't have any pressing matters such as work/school or any appointments the first day back. That's usually what got me back on a regular schedule in August when I'd come back to Bahrain in the summers.

Such is life.

*whew* half a year to go!!!

So this week was interesting.

Sunday: I hit the quarter century mark...

Monday: one grade 5 class threw a party for me that blew up in their faces...this whole thing about listening to the teacher when she's telling everyone to sit down DOES make a difference in how the party turns out...

Tuesday: two other grade 5 classes brought cake/cookies/soda/etc. and those two classes actually DID listen to me...one of those classes happened to be a class that I thought hated me...simple joys. :)

Wednesday: *is it Thursday yet?* says the inner monologue...seriously, I was so worn out with these kids that I didn't even care by the end of the day as long as they were quiet and not doing anything stupid.

Thursday: one teacher decides that she's princess of the school and does everything in her power to one up everyone in the throwing of an end of the year party...and then doesn't even bother to show up to school! Tell me where this makes sense.

But now, I'm done...for a month, I'm done. I've got my pj's on and I'm ready for a day long snooze! I still have a little packing left to do for San Francisco but for the most part, I just want the time to pass.
