Eid Mubarak!

Eid Mubarak Y'all! Ramadan is OVER! I didn't have school today because Eid was called last night--took them long enough! I leave tonight :) I'll be back on Sunday night and I'm planning on having a great time! :)

almost done with Ramadan

I've got just about one week left of Ramadan. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel! This also means that I'll be traveling soon. :)

School is going well. My kids aren't bad at all. :) However the desert cold season is coming up and I hope I don't loose my voice or my lungs in the process...

two more weeks to Eid!!!

My first two weeks of school were interesting. I learned several names of my kids--I know most of my homeroom class! I know who my trouble makers are. I know who my kiss-ups are. I know who's got wasta and who gets picked on for not having wasta. I also know that Ramadan brings out the best and worst in people here--especially when it comes to availability/convenience for teachers and driving.

My afternoons are filled with being just plain tired--the kids zap it all out of me. Then iftar dinners if I choose to leave my flat. So far, I've only done iftar out of my flat a couple times in the first two weeks of Ramadan. Honestly, I don't like doing iftar out because there are huge crowds of people and traffic is evil. Regardless, Gargaroon (the full moon and half way point of Ramadan) is on Monday so we can all celebrate by getting dressed up, throwing a party (a Kupka) and being crazy fools for at least one night this month. :) I really can't wait until Eid! Eating/drinking in public again will be nice and the fact that I'm going to Istanbul for Eid Break is equally very nice. :)

p.s. Aunt Debbie Skype called me today and totally made my afternoon!

the planets have re-aligned!!!

I have internet in my flat once more! The planets have re-aligned and the powers that be have deemed me worthy of stuff going right! My kids are wonderful, my schedule doesn't suck, I'm traveling to Istanbul for Eid, I have internet in my flat, now, I'm waiting for the shoe to drop...but until that happens, I'm enjoying things going right for once. This does mean that if you want to skype call me, by all means set up a time with me via e-mail. :)

Ramadan Kareem!

I hate Ramadan. It's year three of Ramadan and it started last night.
